Liverpool ‘agree personal terms with Fluminense midfielder Andre’

Fluminense and Brazil midfielder Andre has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms for a transfer to Liverpool.

There have been previous rumors linking the 22-year-old with a move to the Reds, including a failed £25m bid in the summer.

Despite staying at Fluminense to help the club in their Copa Libertadores campaign, Andre has not ruled out a potential move to Europe in January, with Liverpool and Arsenal showing interest.

Arsenal, in particular, see Andre as a possible replacement for Thomas Partey and have entered the race for his signature.

However, according to journalist Francois Plateau of The Sun, Liverpool has taken the lead and reached a verbal agreement with Andre on personal terms.

While a deal with Fluminense is yet to be agreed upon, Liverpool is expected to intensify their pursuit of Andre in the upcoming January transfer window.

Andre has been a regular first-team player for Fluminense since his debut in 2020 and is set to make his 161st appearance for the club in the Copa Libertadores final.

He is currently under contract with Fluminense until December 2026 and is represented by the same agent as Liverpool players Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, Jorge Mendes.

Fluminense midfielder Andre has agreed personal terms over a move to Liverpool, according to a report.

The Reds have been strongly linked with the 22-year-old for some time and allegedly failed with a £25m bid in the summer.

Andre eventually stayed put at Fluminense, who were keen to keep hold of their star midfielder for their run to the Copa Libertadores final – the Brazilian club will attempt to win the competition for the first time in their history when they face Boca Juniors on Saturday.

The Bahia-born midfielder has recently opened up on his decision to remain at Fluminense in the summer and help the club in their quest for Copa Libertadores glory.

However, Andre has also refused to rule out a January move to Europe amid interest from Liverpool and Premier League rivals Arsenal.

Indeed, Arsenal are understood to have entered the race for Andre’s signature, with Mikel Arteta believed to have identified the midfielder as a possible replacement for Thomas Partey.

However, Liverpool appear to have stolen a march of the Gunners as journalist Francois Plateau, via The Sun, claims that Jurgen Klopp‘s side have reached a verbal agreement with Andre over personal terms.

Liverpool are yet to agree a deal with Fluminense, though, and there is still work to be done to fend off interest from other potential suitors including Arsenal.

It is thought that the Merseysiders will step up their pursuit of Andre ahead of the January transfer window, with Klopp keen to recruit a new holding midfielder following the departure of Fabinho last summer.

Summer signing Alexis Mac Allister has operated in a deeper midfield role so far this season, as has fellow new recruit Wataru Endo, but the potential addition of Andre would help bolster their options further in that department.

Andre has established himself as a first-team regular with Fluminense since making his senior debut in September 2020, and he is expected to make his 161 appearance for the club in Saturday’s Copa Libertadores final.

Fluminense’s No.7, who made his international debut for Brazil in June, is under contract at the Brasileiro club until December 2026 and is represented by the same agent – Jorge Mendes – as Liverpool pair Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
