This is still LeBron James’ city, with fans in Cleveland wearing his jerseys and cheering his name, despite him not playing for their team anymore.
However, while the Lakers began a four-game trip, it wasn’t James making the biggest plays or hitting the biggest shots. On this night, James received plenty of help from his teammates.
Led by Anthony Davis, the Lakers out-dueled the Cavaliers for a wild 121-115 victory, with seven different Lakers scoring in double figures.
Davis contributed 32 points, while James added 22, and Austin Reaves had 15 points and 10 assists—leading the Lakers to their third straight road win after losing their first five away games at Crypto.com Arena.

In earlier quarters, a museum celebrating James’ career opened in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. During the first quarter, the Cavaliers showcased a video featuring James’ milestone baskets from his first points to the moment he set the NBA’s all-time scoring record last season.
However, late in Saturday’s game, he couldn’t get a good whistle, with a foul on the Cavaliers being overturned via a coach’s challenge, and later, he was called for a technical foul for hanging on the rim.
Nonetheless, despite this, the Lakers (10-7) secured the stops and defensive rebounds they required in the final minute.
Donovan Mitchell, who was previously sidelined for four games due to a right hamstring strain, had 22 points and six assists for Cleveland, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lakers’ winning effort.

Despite being short-handed, the Lakers’ depth on the wing was decimated by injuries, but they still managed to put up an excellent offensive performance.
“You have to see the glass half full always. I rather this would happen now with some of our guys as opposed to late March, April, going into that money time. So you just have to weather the storm,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said pregame.
Offensively, apart from some turnover issues, the Lakers scored 70 points in the first half and made more than half of their shots overall.
