The Los Angeles Lakers are facing another challenge as forward Rui Hachimura underwent a procedure to repair a nasal fracture, the team announced, adding to their early-season injury woes.
Hachimura will miss the Lakers’ four-game trip starting in Cleveland and continuing through Philadelphia, Detroit and Oklahoma City. He will be reevaluated by team doctors in about a week, as per the Lakers’ announcement.
The injury occurred during Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. Despite his recent resurgence, including a three-year, $51 million contract extension in the offseason, Hachimura’s absence will be another significant setback for the Lakers.
Furthermore, the Lakers are also waiting on Jarred Vanderbilt (heel bursitis) to make his season debut and dealing with the absence of Gabe Vincent for three weeks due to left knee swelling. Cam Reddish missed the Dallas game due to soreness in his left groin and is listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Cavaliers.
As if that wasn’t enough, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are also facing injury concerns, with James questionable due to a left calf contusion and Davis probable with discomfort in his left hip.
