Kings’ NBA In-Season Tournament group-play standing after win vs. Wolves originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Sacramento Kings are on the brink of securing their spot in the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinals.
Sacramento’s 124-111 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Friday propelled them to a 3-0 record in Group C.
If the Golden State Warriors lose to the San Antonio Spurs, the Kings will secure the top spot in Group C. However, if the Warriors emerge victorious, the Kings still have the chance to take control by defeating Golden State on Tuesday at the Golden 1 Center.
In the event of a loss to Golden State, the Kings can still advance to the knockout stage as the Western Conference’s wild card, with tiebreakers being the determining factor based on head-to-head record, point differential, and total points scored.
Elsewhere in Group C, the Oklahoma City Thunder (2-1) and San Antonio Spurs (0-3) have been eliminated. The Timberwolves (2-1) remain in contention to win the group stage by defeating the Thunder and relying on a Warriors victory over the Kings on Tuesday.
The Kings’ victory over the Timberwolves snapped a two-game losing streak and concluded a challenging six-game road trip. With a record of 9-6, Sacramento will have three days of rest before facing the Warriors at the Golden 1 Center on Tuesday.
