The Kentucky women’s basketball team faced a tough defeat to No. 10 N.C. State, losing 84-55 at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Multiple Wildcats scored nine points each, with Ajae Petty, Eniya Russell, and Saniya Tyler leading the team. Amiya Jenkins and Emma King scored eight, while Maddie Scherr had seven for the Cats.
Kentucky (2-3) managed to score first with a Petty jumper, but N.C. State quickly took control, ending the first quarter with a 31-16 lead.
N.C. State extended their lead in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 55-24 lead. Scherr led the Cats with seven points in the first half.
In the third quarter, N.C. State continued to dominate, leading 76-34 with 10 minutes remaining. Petty was UK’s leading scorer through three quarters with nine points.
The Cats will look to bounce back on Friday as they face No. 3 Colorado in the second game of the Paradise Jam. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN Plus.
