Kentucky Wildcats among top-100 college basketball player rankings via CBS

The Kentucky Wildcats boast one of the most esteemed college basketball programs.

Although they have experienced recent success, the team has struggled in March, but they have high hopes for the upcoming season with a trio of exceptional freshmen. The Wildcats have secured the top recruiting class, with two of these freshmen ranking in the top 100 players in college basketball.

According to CBS Sports, DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards have made the ranking, along with Antonio Reeves. Aaron Bradshaw, the five-star recruit, unfortunately, didn’t make the cut.

Edwards stands as the highest-ranked Wildcats player at No. 18. CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander had this to say about the talented prospect:

“Another elite freshman joins the ranks at Kentucky. Edwards is bound to exceed expectations. Ranked as the No. 4 recruit in the Class of 2023, this scoring sensation will be relied upon to lead Kentucky from the start. Edwards is one of the front-runners to go No. 1 in the upcoming NBA Draft. It’s uncommon to see a potential top-three pick ranked so low, but the presence of experienced players in the sport also plays a factor. — MN”

Edwards, recognized as the top small forward and the third-best player in the Class of 2023 by 247 Sports, was the sole Kentucky player to make the top 50. DJ Wagner, continuing the Cats’ tradition of talent from New Jersey, secured the 55th spot.

Following closely behind Wagner is Reeves, the Co-SEC Sixth Man of the Year in the previous season. Reeves initially played for Illinois State before transferring to the Wildcats. He considered entering the draft but ultimately decided to return. Reeves claimed the 59th spot in the rankings.

Former Wildcats forward Keion Brooks, now playing for the Washington Huskies, also earned a spot on the list.
