Broncos safety Kareem Jackson faces his second suspension of the season, following five illegal hits. He revealed Tuesday that he plans to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York to seek clarity on the situation.
“We’ll see what comes of it,” Jackson stated, expressing his desire to understand why he is being disciplined when he believes other players engage in similar actions without consequences. He emphasized the need for clarification, claiming that he is making regular football plays with no malicious intent.
After serving a two-game suspension previously, Jackson returned and questioned the NFL’s response to his inquiries about legal hits. Following the next game, he incurred a four-game suspension for a hit on Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs, citing the league’s lack of clarity on what constitutes illegal hits as the reason for his frustration.
Jackson voiced his feeling of being targeted, highlighting the absence of clarity and the presence of gray areas in the NFL’s rulings. He also criticized being banned from the team facility during suspensions, questioning the league’s commitment to the well-being of its players in such situations.
Financially, Jackson will forfeit significant amounts in salary due to his suspensions and fines for unnecessary roughness, totaling over $900,000. He has also been ejected from games twice this season.
