The Archbishop Hoban boys golf team displayed an impressive performance, finishing second in the Division I state championship tournament at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course. With a team score of 601, they were just three strokes behind the champion, Whitehouse Anthony Wayne, who had a two-day score of 598. Olentangy Liberty secured the third spot with a score of 610.
Under the guidance of coach Quinn Parker, this marked Hoban’s sixth consecutive appearance in the Division I state tournament. Their tournament history includes a tie for sixth place in 2018, a second-place finish in 2019, a championship victory in 2020, a second-place finish in 2021, and a fourth-place finish in 2022.
The individual medalist honors went to Columbus St. Francis DeSales senior Vaughn Harber, who recorded an impressive score of 135. Harber shot 69 on Friday and 66 on Saturday, showcasing his exceptional skills on the par 71 course.
Other standout performers included senior Logan Sutto from Anthony Wayne, who finished second individually with a score of 136. Cincinnati Elder junior Cayse Morgan and Upper Arlington senior Brady Catalano tied for third place with identical scores of 142.
The tournament also witnessed remarkable performances from other talented golfers. Kent Roosevelt junior Liam Curtis and St. Ignatius senior Bradley Chill both shot a remarkable score of 146, securing the seventh spot. Hoban junior Ray Dress and Hudson junior Sam Fauver tied for the ninth position with scores of 147.
Additionally, Hoban’s team boasted impressive performances from junior Braden Herstich (11th, 150), senior Jack Vojtko (tied for 12th, 151), and junior Chris Pollak (tied for 16th, 153).
Other notable finishers included Green senior Kyle Smith, who tied for 12th place with a score of 151, and Walsh Jesuit sophomore Anthony Spain, who secured the 21st spot with a score of 155. Jackson senior Jordan Kish tied for 26th place with a score of 157, while Polar Bears junior Maxwell Weber tied for 32nd place with a score of 159.
Team-wise, Jackson finished ninth with a score of 640, Hudson secured the 10th spot with a score of 646, and Green concluded the tournament in 12th place with a score of 663.
