Josh Allen shakes off injury scare, leads Bills to victory

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — It was a heart-stopping moment in the game when Buccaneer linebacker YaYa Diaby tackled Josh Allen, causing him to stumble and fall on his right throwing shoulder. However, Allen quickly bounced back and showed his resilience by leading the Buffalo Bills to a 24-18 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Allen’s health has been a key concern this season, with the team emphasizing the need to protect their star quarterback. Despite the injury scare, Allen remained in the game and didn’t miss a snap.

After the game, Allen reassured reporters that he would be fine, saying, “Took a little fall on it and felt a little funky about it, but you know, just trying to keep it warm and keep it loose. I’ll be sore for a couple of days, but we’ll be fine.”

Coach Sean McDermott initially believed that Allen would not be available, leading the Bills to prepare for backup quarterback Kyle Allen. However, to everyone’s surprise, Josh Allen emerged from the medical tent, threw a few passes, and returned to the field.

Allen had initially injured his right shoulder in a previous game, but that did not slow him down in the matchup against the Buccaneers. He showcased his versatility by rushing for a touchdown and recording 41 yards on the ground.

The Bills have been focused on reducing Allen’s rushing attempts to minimize the hits he takes. Nevertheless, they took advantage of his running ability against the Buccaneers, resulting in a successful offensive performance.

McDermott emphasized the importance of Allen sliding when running, stating, “I’m done saying [that he needs to slide.] I’m done saying it. He knows. So, he knows. So, if he’s gonna run, he needs to slide. It’s his job to slide.”

With his rushing touchdown, Allen solidified his place in Bills history, becoming the first player in franchise history to record at least five rushing touchdowns in each of his first six seasons.

The Bills’ offense showcased a more efficient and cohesive performance, scoring 17 points in the first half. Allen’s ability to get the ball out quickly and his improved decision-making contributed to the team’s success.

Center Mitch Morse praised Allen’s quick release, stating, “It helps us all, so it’s a really good deal. But it also gets completions going, and when you get in the rhythm at quarterback, it really helps.”
