The third round of the Qatar Masters in Doha, Qatar was suspended due to fading light on Saturday, with Jorge Campillo leading by one shot and only the 18th hole left to play.
Campillo, a Spanish golfer, will resume play on Sunday with hopes of securing his fourth win on the DP World Tour. This would mark his second victory of the year, following the Kenya Open in March, and his second win at the Qatar Masters since 2020.
Sami Valimaki, from Finland, currently holds the clubhouse lead with a total score of 15-under par after shooting three consecutive rounds of 67. Campillo is the only player ahead of him on the leaderboard, with a 6-under score for his third round, and the par-5 hole remaining.
Valimaki, who claimed his first title in Oman in 2020, is also in contention for earning a PGA Tour card for the upcoming season. He is one of the top 10 players in the European Tour’s DP Race to Dubai rankings who are not otherwise exempt.
“I have tomorrow to go and then two more weeks (of the season),” Valimaki said. “I need to get one win to make it to the PGA Tour. That’s my goal.”
Robert MacIntyre holds the third-place position with one shot behind, and he is currently 2-under for his round with two holes remaining.
At 13-under, Sean, Scott Jamieson, and Nacho Elvira are in the clubhouse with scores of 67, 66, and 66, respectively.
