Jason Jackson shocks previously unbeaten Yaroslav Amosov with brutal KO to win title

Jason Jackson astonished the MMA world at Bellator 301 and emerged as champion.

Perceived by many as a significant underdog, Jackson (17-4 MMA, 8-1 BMMA) delivered a knockout blow to previously undefeated Yaroslav Amosov (27-1 MMA, 8-1 BMMA) to cap off a dominant striking performance in Friday’s main event at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The stoppage occurred via punches at 2:08 of Round 3.

Right from the start, Jackson thwarted Amosov’s takedown attempts and controlled the distance. Jackson used leg kicks to keep Amosov at bay. His uppercuts and knees posed a threat to Amosov every time he attempted a takedown.

As the fight went on, Amosov grew tired. Jackson remained composed and waited for his opportunity, which he found in a combination that ended with a solid right hand. Amosov was knocked down and tried to survive. As Amosov got to his feet and absorbed blows, a sloppy takedown was once again countered by an uppercut – this time it knocked him out.

Jackson, who hadn’t competed since July 2022, extended his winning streak to seven. His other significant victories include wins over Douglas Lima, Paul Daley, Benson Henderson, and Neiman Gracie.

Amosov suffered his first professional loss. He won the title vs. Douglas Lima in June 2021 and defended it once successfully vs. Logan Storley in February after a split from MMA to serve in the Ukrainian military.
