CHICAGO – Jason Jackson has a monumental task ahead of him this Friday. He has to accomplish something that has never been done before: defeat Yaroslav Amosov.
Jackson is challenging Amosov for the welterweight title and mentioned seeking advice from teammate Logan Storley about his opponent. Storley faced Amosov twice in 25-minute fights. In their initial bout, Storley lost by a split decision. Earlier this year, after a lengthy hiatus, Amosov defeated Storley again with a unanimous decision in a title unification bout.
“It means the world to me to compete against a fighter like Amosov,” Jackson told MMA Junkie and other media members during the pre-fight media day for Bellator 301. “He’s a professional who conducts business the right way. I can’t wait to step into the ring and compete with him. … Logan told me everything he knows. He didn’t leave anything out. I’ve been studying Amosov for years because I’ve always aimed to fight him, considering he’s the best in the division. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.”
Jackson (16-4 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) shared insights regarding the advice he received from Storley, juggling training with a full-time job, Amosov’s (27-0 MMA, 8-0 BMMA) strengths, and more.
