NEW YORK — James Harden has announced his highly-anticipated LA Clippers debut on Monday night at Madison Square Garden, where he will face off against the New York Knicks.

“Definitely,” reassured Harden when questioned about his debut against the Knicks.

Prior to a practice session in New York on Sunday, Harden expressed confidence in his readiness for the game, stating that he is good to go unless any unforeseen circumstances arise. The Clippers have had a four-day break since their overtime loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night.

During this break, Harden has diligently familiarized himself with the Clippers’ offense and engaged in extensive on-court work, participating in 5-on-5 pickup games and scrimmages on Thursday and Friday.

While head coach Ty Lue has yet to reveal his starting lineup, expectations are that the Clippers will deploy Harden alongside fellow starters Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Ivica Zubac. Lue mentioned that the starters did not scrimmage with Harden last week, but he plans to have all four stars on the court together during Sunday’s practice.

Lue acknowledged Harden’s physical condition, stating that he appears to be in good shape, but the team will be cautious and monitor his workload against the Knicks.

“I don’t expect to play for 40-something minutes, but there are no physical restrictions,” Harden responded when asked about his playing time.

Lue also commended Harden’s basketball IQ, noting his quick grasp of plays, ability to make reads and passes in pick-and-roll situations, and his eagerness to study film to expedite his integration onto the team. Lue emphasized the importance of ensuring Harden’s comfort on the court tomorrow night, enabling him to play without overthinking.

Harden expressed his excitement to finally represent his new team, stating, “It feels good.” He also highlighted the challenges of practice and training, emphasizing that actual games feel easier in comparison. He eagerly awaits the opportunity to step onto the court.
