NEW YORK — James Harden made his much-anticipated debut for the LA Clippers on Monday night, despite feeling a bit strange playing without a training camp or preseason with his new team. The Clippers, however, remain excited about the potential of their star-studded lineup, consisting of Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook.

During his post-game interviews, Harden expressed his belief in the “unlimited possibilities” that lie ahead for the Clippers. Despite the team’s 111-97 loss to the New York Knicks, the focus remains on the long-term prospects and the chemistry that these talented players can develop over time.

In his first game, Harden showcased his skills by making 6 of 9 shots, tallying 17 points and six assists in just 31 minutes. Admitting it felt strange not having participated in training camp or preseason with the Clippers, he relied on his basketball instincts to make an impact on the game and make it easier for his teammates.

The Clippers’ starting lineup featured all four stars, along with center Ivica Zubac. While they all contributed with double-digit points, the team struggled with turnovers, giving up 22 possessions that led to 35 points for the Knicks. Additionally, they were outrebounded and struggled defensively in the second half, allowing 69 points to the Knicks.

The game took a sour turn for the Clippers when backup center Mason Plumlee suffered a sprained left knee and had to be carried off the court. This injury might require Harden to take on a larger role with the team’s second unit. Coach Ty Lue had Harden run the second team, and despite Harden’s fatigue in his first game back, Lue was impressed with his playmaking abilities.

Lue believes that after 10 games, he will have a better understanding of how the team’s dynamics will work and may make adjustments accordingly. Despite the loss and some individual struggles, the team remains optimistic. Westbrook had a solid performance with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, while George acknowledged the team’s talent and expressed optimism about their future.
