Jamall Emmers says UFC 295 win that much sweeter remembering those who laughed at him

Jamall Emmers secured a stunning first-round TKO victory over Dennis Buzukja, igniting the preliminary card at UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden in New York. However, despite his dominant performance, Emmers was disqualified from earning a post-fight bonus due to a missed weight issue.

In a thrilling match, Emmers emerged victorious in an intense featherweight fight against Buzukja, capturing the win with a TKO via punches at just 49 seconds into the first round. The victory added to Emmers’ updated records of 20-7 MMA and 3-3 UFC, while Buzukja’s record shifted to 11-4 MMA and 0-2 UFC.

Emmers reflected on his fight, expressing, “When I started camp, it just felt right…stuff’s just starting to connect a lot quicker. All I had to do was press play when I got into the cage, and that’s what happened.”

Regarding his experience fighting at the iconic Madison Square Garden, Emmers shared, “It took a long time to get here…I feel like I’m living a dream. I’m on Cloud 9…I’m still in shock…It’s just amazing. It took a while, but it finally happened where I can show the world my art.”

Looking ahead, Emmers emphasized the importance of facing the right opponents to advance in his career. He stated, “I’ve just got to beat the right guys…If I get the right fights, I can move up a lot quicker. That’s the goal.”
