Jalen Hurts wears leg brace in 2nd half as Eagles top Dolphins

PHILADELPHIA — Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts showcased his resilience during Sunday night’s 31-17 triumph over the Miami Dolphins, as he played the second half wearing a brace on his left leg.

While Hurts didn’t provide much information about his injury after the game, a source indicated that it is believed to be a knee injury.

“I’ll be fine,” assured Hurts. However, when asked whether this injury would impact his future performances, he responded, “I hope not.”

In Sunday’s game, Hurts rushed 11 times (including three kneel downs) for 21 yards and a touchdown, while also passing for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He rushed three times in the second half.

Observing Hurts as he jogged off the field after the game, he appeared to be grimacing. His teammates acknowledged that he played through pain.

“I don’t want to reveal too much, but he’s an exceptionally tough individual,” praised receiver A.J. Brown.

“Due to our style of play, sometimes he scrambles and gets banged up,” added right tackle Lane Johnson. “But he handles it well. He never shows any signs of discomfort or complains.”

When the second half commenced, Hurts was late coming out of the tunnel, leading to backup Marcus Mariota warming up on the sideline, causing some confusion regarding the starting quarterback for the offense.

However, Coach Nick Sirianni affirmed that there was no doubt Hurts would continue playing.

“He played the rest of the game at an exceptional level,” praised Sirianni. “I thought he performed outstandingly. Man, he’s a true competitor. I wouldn’t want anyone else as our quarterback. He gave everything tonight. He’s resilient.”

In the game, Hurts experienced a couple of turnovers, including a pick-six, raising his season total to 10 turnovers, the second highest in the NFL after Desmond Ridder of the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts has thrown an interception in three consecutive games, a career-high for him.

However, despite the turnovers, Hurts continues to generate points, leading Philadelphia to a 6-1 record this season.

During the game, which saw the Eagles don their throwback kelly green jerseys, Hurts equaled Randall Cunningham’s record for the most rushing touchdowns by an Eagles quarterback (32).

“It’s crazy,” remarked Hurts. “It’s pretty cool to achieve that while wearing his old jersey.”

When asked about his plans for the upcoming week regarding his injury, Hurts replied, “Nothing too significant. I’ll just prepare for the next opponent.”
