Jabrill Peppers and DeVante Parker Criticize Refs for No-Call on Douglas Hit

Jabrill Peppers, DeVante Parker call out refs for no-call on Douglas hit originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

During the New England Patriots’ 10-7 loss to the New York Giants, rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas faced a questionable hit. Giants linebacker Cam Brown essentially clotheslined Douglas at neck level during a punt return early in the fourth quarter.

Douglas fell to the field and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game due to a head injury. Fortunately, he was later found to have avoided any serious injury with a concussion being ruled out.

Teammates Jabrill Peppers and DeVante Parker reacted to the hit and no-call in their postgame press conferences. Peppers expressed frustration over the lack of flag for the hit, especially in light of his previous fines for clean hits.

Peppers was previously fined $43,709 in a previous game for unnecessary roughness, even though no flag was thrown during the play. He emphasized the inconsistency and injustice of such decisions, calling it a joke.

Parker also chimed in, expressing anger at the lack of action from the refs following the hit. He emphasized the need for accountability and consequences for such plays to ensure player safety.

With another disappointing loss, the Patriots now sit at 2-9, with fans turning their attention to the team’s draft pick position. The Patriots will resume action next Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers at 1 p.m. ET.
