In their only home preseason game, the Broncos demonstrated their dominance over the Rams. However, their performance at home hasn’t been as impressive in the regular season, as they have yet to secure a victory in three games.
Coach Sean Payton is determined to change that on Sunday when they face off against the Packers.
“I’m tired of constantly addressing our poor performance at home during press conferences,” Payton expressed to reporters on Friday. “It’s time for a change. We possess a formidable home-field advantage, with a rich tradition and a spirited crowd. It’s about time we capitalize on these advantages.
“Now, let’s talk about the officiating crew we have this weekend. Out of the 17 officials, they rank second in fouls called at the line of scrimmage. The challenges are numerous. We must exercise intelligence at the line of scrimmage and leverage the noise to our advantage.”
Packers fans might add to the noise factor. When asked about the historically well-traveling Green Bay fan base, Payton calmly responded, “I didn’t even consider that. It is what it is. We travel well too.”
While the Broncos may have a loyal fanbase, the Packers will be the ones traversing on Sunday, hoping to extend the road-team’s undefeated record to 4-0 at Mile High Stadium this year.
Interestingly, in 2023, there has been a striking trend that has erased the notion of home-field advantage. Out of the 91 non-London games, the visiting team has achieved a balanced 45-46 record.
