Iowa Women’s Basketball Secures Rematch with Kansas State Following Victory Over FGCU

Coach Lisa Bluder made history by securing her 500th win for Iowa Women’s Basketball. Caitlin Clark led the way contributing 21 of 100 points in her team’s dominating win of 100-62 over Florida Gulf Coast to grab a slot in the 2023 Women’s Gulf Coast Showcase championship game.

Redemption is set for the Hawkeyes on Nov. 26. 

No. 5 Iowa (6-1) is all geared up to face No. 16 Kansas State (6-0) at 7:30 p.m. in Estero, Florida in the championship game, after Kansas State beat No. 18 UNC on Nov. 25, 10 days since Kansas State’s victory over the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Florida Gulf Coast University could not find their footing in the game against Iowa, which capitalized on a 14-0 run in the first half and tallied 55 points, marking their second consecutive 50-point first half in the tournament.

Florida Gulf Coast will play North Carolina at 5 p.m. on Nov. 26.

Lisa Bluder’s 500th Win As Iowa Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Iowa’s head coach Lisa Bluder registered her 500th win in her 24th season, making her the all-time winningest coach in the program history leading her team to 17 NCAA Tournaments. 

With her new milestone, her statistics now stand at 500-250 at Iowa and 856-392 overall. Her remarkable coaching has elevated the program, taking it to the Final Four for the first time since 1993 in 2023. 

Before her tenure at Iowa, Bluder honed her coaching skills at Drake for 10 seasons, culminating in an impressive 187-106 overall record.
