Sent to Springfield, AHL: F Zach Dean
Sent to Springfield, AHL: F Mathias Laferriere

There are two other notable players who were sent down from St. Louis – 2021 first-round picks Bolduc and Dean. It’s not surprising to see them start in Springfield as they haven’t made their pro debut yet. However, there was some hope that Bolduc could secure an NHL spot in training camp after an impressive 50-goal, 110-point season in the QMJHL.

Although that didn’t happen, a strong start with the Thunderbirds in the AHL could quickly earn him a call-up to St. Louis. Dean is in a similar situation, and his physical style of play could potentially land him a fourth-line role with the Blues in the future, while Bolduc may have to wait for an opening on a scoring line.

In Ottawa, veteran forward Josh Bailey was released from his PTO. Reports from Ottawa stated that Bailey struggled with the pace of the game during training camp and preseason, which was also an issue for him in his last season with the Islanders.

After seeing a decline in his production from 44 points to 25, Bailey will now have to explore other options if he wants to continue his professional career.
