Name: Jonathan Jimenez-Hernandez

School: Enka

Sport and position: Soccer, centerback

When did you first start playing soccer?

I began my soccer journey when I was around 6 or 7 years old, joining ABYSA (Asheville Buncombe Youth Soccer Association) as my starting point.

What aspect of playing the sport do you enjoy the most?

Soccer provides me with constant challenges, urging me to work hard. It fosters a strong work ethic, teamwork, and support for my fellow teammates and everyone around me.

How would you describe your team’s performance in the 1-0 win over North Buncombe?

I believe we played exceptionally well and demonstrated great determination. Although we didn’t score as many goals as we would have liked, a win is a win. We will continue to strive for success in the playoffs and aim to secure as many home games as possible.

What life lessons have you learned from soccer that you apply to your everyday life?

I’ve learned the importance of hard work and finding joy in what you do. Every day is an opportunity to embrace the things you love, and it’s crucial to cherish and make the most of those moments.

Aside from soccer, what other involvements do you have at your school?

I’m also involved in football, where I serve as the kicker.

What are your hobbies outside of sports?

When I’m not on the field, I enjoy playing soccer at home as well. I also have a passion for drawing and cooking with my parents. Spending time with my family and engaging in hobbies together brings me immense joy.

What do you usually order at fast-food restaurants?

My go-to fast food order is McDonald’s. It’s an affordable and satisfying choice for me. I usually get two McChickens, a large fry, and a Dr. Pepper.
