Jack Jones has had a whirlwind week. It all began with his participation in the New England Patriots’ 10-6 defeat against the Indianapolis Colts in Frankfurt, Germany.
Less than 24 hours later, he was waived by the Patriots upon their return to the United States. By the following day, he was claimed by the Las Vegas Raiders.
And just a day after that, he found himself in Vegas, reflecting on the roller coaster of emotions. Although the release from the Patriots stung, Jones expressed his motivation to move forward.
Regarding his departure from New England, Jones didn’t dive into specifics but admitted he didn’t mesh well with the Patriots. “I would say it wasn’t the best fit,” Jones told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. “I’m glad to be here,” he added about joining the Raiders.
Joining the Raiders, Jones joins a secondary ranked eighth against the pass. He described it as “elite” and expressed his eagerness to contribute in any way possible.
Jones showed promise as a rookie with the Patriots in 2022, but faced challenges in 2023 that led to his release.
“That was the team that drafted me, that gave me an opportunity,” Jones said. “I’m blessed to be here now.” Despite this, Jones is familiar with his new head coach, Antonio Pierce, who was his coach in high school and at Arizona State.
Pierce praised Jones’ playmaking ability and expects him to add depth and competition to the Raiders’ defense. He also highlighted Jones’ growth and expressed his commitment to supporting him in his new journey with the Raiders.
