Hyflyers, Stinger, Fireballs, Cleeks advance; Semis set

In the Quarterfinal matches of the LIV Golf Team Championship held in Miami, HyFlyers GC and Cleeks GC emerged as the underdogs, defeating higher-seeded teams. They will now face the top two seeds in the Semifinals on Saturday at Trump National Doral.

Despite a loss in a high-profile singles match against Brooks Koepka, Captain Phil Mickelson remains proud of his team’s performance. Cameron Tringale secured a victory for HyFlyers in the other singles match, while Brendan Steele and James Piot won in Foursomes, giving the ninth-seeded team a 2-1 win.

Cleeks GC’s Captain Martin Kaymer lost to Cameron Smith, but Richard Bland won his singles match, and Graeme McDowell and Bernd Wiesberger clinched a thrilling victory in Foursomes. This 2-1 win marks the second consecutive year that Cleeks has surprised opponents at Doral.

Stinger GC won all three matches against Iron Heads GC, while Fireballs GC secured a 2-1 victory against Majesticks GC.

The captains of the top four seeds then selected their semifinal opponents. The matches are scheduled to start at 1:15 p.m. EDT and are as follows:

Defending Team Champion 4Aces GC presents a tough challenge for the HyFlyers, but Mickelson is excited about the opportunity to face Dustin Johnson in singles. The Crushers, who lost in the semifinals last year, believe they have a stronger team this year. Torque GC, the youngest team in the league, will face a formidable South African squad. RangeGoats GC’s Captain Bubba Watson will face Fireballs Captain Sergio Garcia, while the intriguing matchup will be between Talor Gooch and Eugenio Chacarra.
