Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell looks ahead to Senior Day, Nebraska
Badgers football coach Luke Fickell met with the media Monday at the McClain Center in advance of the team’s final home game of the season.
All season, the Wisconsin Badgers football team has lost several of its top players to significant injuries during games.
Chez Mellusi. Tanner Mordecai. Braelon Allen.
Safety Hunter Wohler is the latest.
Wohler left Saturday’s 24-17 overtime win against Nebraska late in the second quarter when he collided with a Nebraska player.
When he returned to the sidelines for the second half his pads were removed and was ruled out with what was called an “upper body injury.”
That was a huge blow to the Badgers defense, which gave up two huge touchdown drives to start the game.
Wohler, a Muskego native and former high school state player of the year, is the emotional leader of the defense. He made headlines last week for calling out his team after the Badgers’ 24-10 loss to Northwestern..
The Huskers led the Badgers, 14-10, when Wohler exited the game. But his defensive teammates came through with stop after stop and held Purdy mostly in check after that explosive first quarter to help Wisconsin snap its three-game losing streak.
