Following the Warriors’ colossal second-half collapse leading to a 124-123 defeat to the Sacramento Kings, Coach Steve Kerr was left searching for answers into the next morning.
During his appearance on KNBR’s “Tolbert and Copes,” Kerr shared an amusing anecdote involving a reality check he received from his wife, Margot, upon his return from Golden 1 Center.
“I got home from Sacramento, I’m pondering everything, and I’m tossing and turning,” Kerr recounted. “It’s 2 o’clock in the morning, and Margot wakes up and goes, ‘Jesus, it’s only November. Would you just relax?’ And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ and she goes, ‘All I can hear are these heavy sighs, tossing and turning, just go to sleep.’
The Warriors saw a 17-point lead dwindle following a season-high 72 points in the first half before ultimately succumbing to Malik Monk’s game-winning shot.
Kerr expressed regret for pulling Moses Moody during a critical stretch in the fourth quarter, acknowledging his mistake during an appearance on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs.”
“I should have left Moses in the game,” Kerr admitted. “Moses hits three 3s, and he’s rolling, and we decided — we kind of overthought it.”
Moody ignited the Warriors with an incredible stretch, and Kerr admitted to removing the talented forward being a major error.
“Moses was really good defensively, and watching the tape over again, that was a really terrible decision, and I should have left him out there for a couple more minutes,” said Kerr, expressing his regret.
The Warriors, with a 6-2 start to the season, have since lost eight of their last 10 games, suffering heartbreaking defeats to the Kings and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Despite the team’s struggles, there’s still time for Kerr and the Warriors to overcome their late-game issues.
