Bedard vs. McDavid: Here’s when the two superstars will meet on the ice
In just 12 NHL games, Connor Bedard has already faced off against nearly every top skater in the league. He’s gone up against Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon, and many others, but there’s one superstar he has yet to encounter: Connor McDavid.
By now, you’ve probably heard the comparisons. Bedard is touted as the most gifted player to enter the league since McDavid’s 2015 draft by the Oilers.
So when will this emerging rookie finally get a chance to take on the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner in an NHL game?
The Blackhawks will visit Edmonton to face the Oilers on Dec. 12. And if you’re a Blackhawks fan who wants to witness this marquee matchup in person at the United Center, mark your calendars for Jan. 9.
The Oilers have been struggling, starting the 2023-24 campaign with a dismal 2-10-1 record. McDavid himself has had a slow start, with just two goals in his first 10 games due to an upper-body injury he sustained a few weeks ago against the Jets. He also has eight assists.
On the other hand, Bedard is proving himself as a top prospect. The first-overall pick has already scored seven goals and four assists this season, leading all Blackhawks skaters in goals and points. He even made history as the youngest player since 1944 to record four points in an NHL game after scoring twice in a game against Tampa Bay.
