Curiosity surrounds Patrick Kane’s next destination after being traded from the Blackhawks to the New York Rangers last season.

According to Frank Seravalli on Daily Faceoff, these are the three teams to watch out for in the race to sign Kane: the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, and Detroit Red Wings.

It’s no surprise that the Buffalo Sabres are in the mix, as Kane is a Buffalo native. He has already shown interest in New York by waiving his no-trade clause for the Rangers last season, allowing his family to attend games easily.

There’s speculation that Kane might be attracted to a challenge. Revitalizing a struggling team could enhance his career. The Sabres, who haven’t made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season, fit that description.

Seravalli also highlights the New York Rangers as a team keeping a close eye on Kane. Despite his previous injury, they were impressed by his leadership and are intrigued by the idea of him returning to the team.

Kane’s recovery from hip surgery has been remarkable, with videos posted by his agency showcasing his incredible progress only three weeks after the procedure.

And then there’s the Detroit Red Wings, which might sting Blackhawks fans the most. Seravalli mentions that people close to Kane have noticed his interest in joining the Red Wings, particularly because his former linemate Alex DeBrincat now plays for them.

The Red Wings, like the Sabres, are a team in need of improvement after missing the playoffs since the 2015-16 season. If Kane is seeking a rising team to make an impact on, the Red Wings fit the bill.

These three teams mentioned by Seravalli aren’t the only ones on Kane’s radar. However, it’s worth noting that the Blackhawks are not one of them.
