ABU DHABI – Paulo Costa, the Brazilian fighter in the middleweight division of the UFC, is unimpressed with Khamzat Chimaev’s performance at UFC 294. Costa believes that the fight between Chimaev and current champion Kamaru Usman was either a loss or a draw.
Costa was originally supposed to fight Chimaev in the co-main event of UFC 294. However, he had to withdraw due to a severe case of staph infection, and Usman stepped in as his replacement on short notice.
Chimaev won the fight against Usman by a majority decision, but Costa was not impressed with Chimaev’s performance. He described it as “horrible” and believes that Usman actually won the last two rounds of the fight.
Despite Chimaev’s win, Costa does not think he deserves a title shot against current champion Sean Strickland. He believes that Chimaev should prove himself against other middleweight fighters before getting a chance at the belt.
Costa is confident that the UFC will reschedule his fight with Chimaev instead of booking him in a title fight. He believes that he has the skills to end Chimaev’s perfect record in MMA.
