Hawks Forward Jalen Johnson Out for 3-4 Weeks with Left Wrist Fracture: What This Means for the Team

The Atlanta Hawks are facing a setback as forward Jalen Johnson will be out for three to four weeks due to a left wrist injury, as announced by the team on Sunday. The injury occurred during their recent game against the Washington Wizards, resulting in a left distal radius fracture for Johnson.

Johnson’s injury took place in the first half of the game when he landed awkwardly on his left wrist after attempting a dunk and being fouled by Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma. Despite shooting two free throws after the foul, Johnson was unable to continue the game and left with a total of eight points, one rebound, and one assist in eight minutes.

The 21-year-old rising star has been performing exceptionally well this season, showcasing career-high averages of 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting close to 60% from the field. He has significantly improved from last season, where he only averaged 5.6 points per game.

The Hawks, currently at an 8-7 record, will miss Johnson’s contributions as they face the Boston Celtics for the second game of a five-game road trip. However, if Johnson’s recovery goes as planned, he could potentially return to the lineup in time for their game against the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 26. Despite the setback, Johnson remains positive and resilient, as evidenced by his recent tweet expressing his determination to overcome adversity.
