Following a regular season culminating in first place in the conference standings, Texas secured the most spots on the 2023 All-Big 12 football team chosen by the USA TODAY Sports Network.
This team, which covers the Big 12 league, saw the Longhorns secure six of the 25 spots, with Oklahoma claiming four honorees and Oklahoma State, set to play UT in the Big 12 title game, securing three spots.
Among these honorees included Ollie Gordon II from Oklahoma State as the winner of the player of the year award, and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, who was named coach of the year. Additionally, West Virginia defensive back Beanie Bishop Jr. was recognized as newcomer of the year.
Gordon, Gabriel, and Kansas State offensive lineman Cooper Beebe were named unanimous selections.
Notably, twelve of the league’s 14 schools secured at least one player on the team, with the only exceptions being TCU and Baylor. The team was chosen based on a vote by eight writers who cover Big 12 football regularly for the USA TODAY Sports Network.
