Game of the Week: Papermakers come up with big win at home

Camas dominated Skyview 21-9 in a thrilling matchup for the Greater St. Helens League title. The game was defined by Camas QB Jake Davidson’s impressive aerial displays.

Davidson’s pinpoint accuracy was on full display when he threw a perfect pass over three defenders to Anthony Forner, resulting in an 18-yard touchdown in the second quarter. This play gave Camas the go-ahead score and set the tone for the rest of the game.

Davidson continued his stellar performance by connecting with Trenton Swanson on a deep pass that brought them inside the 10-yard line. This set up Beau Harlan’s 4-yard rushing touchdown, extending Camas’ lead to 14-3 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Camas widened the gap, making it 21-3 in their favor.

JESUIT 26, SUNSET 21

Jesuit secured a hard-fought victory against Sunset, with Trey Cleeland shining by scoring three touchdowns. Cleeland’s third touchdown gave Jesuit a commanding 26-7 lead with 10 minutes remaining.

Sunset’s QB Drew Nees orchestrated a late comeback attempt, throwing a 52-yard touchdown pass to Blake Hurley. The Apollos narrowed the lead to five points with less than two minutes on the clock.

However, Jesuit skillfully managed the remaining time, preserving their win.

Cleeland’s outstanding performance was highlighted by his two first-half touchdowns, including a 38-yard run to the end zone. Kicker Kaydn Butcher also played a vital role, contributing with two field goals.

SCAPPOOSE 47, ST. HELENS 14

Scappoose took control of the game late in the first half, primarily thanks to running back Leland Boswell’s 7-yard touchdown run. The Indians’ defense made crucial plays, with Riley DuBois and Allen Cloquet recording back-to-back sacks to force St. Helens into a punt situation. Unfortunately for the Lions, a mishap during the punt allowed Scappoose to gain possession at the 2-yard line.

Boswell capitalized on this opportunity, scoring his second touchdown from 3 yards out, giving Scappoose a commanding 28-7 lead going into halftime.

SOUTH SALEM 63, ROSEBURG 7

South Salem continued their undefeated season, dominating Roseburg from the start. QB Athan Palmateer showcased his skills, scoring a 4-yard rushing touchdown on the opening drive. The Saxons didn’t let up and quickly scored again, with Palmateer’s 17-yard run on a crucial 4th-and-1 play setting up Juan Mendez for a touchdown catch.

The second half was played under running-clock rules, further solidifying South Salem’s dominant win.

ESTACADA 34, GLADSTONE 0

Estacada delivered a shutout performance against Gladstone, with Lincoln Rathmanner impressing with both a passing and a rushing touchdown. Additionally, Cohen Schleich led the Rangers’ defense with stellar tackling.

CLACKAMAS 38, GRESHAM 12

Clackamas secured a comfortable victory against Gresham, thanks to Jaxon Decker’s two rushing touchdowns and a touchdown reception by Devin Brooks on a short screen pass.
