FSU Soccer Dominates Round 3 Against Clemson, Secures Spot in Title Game

Florida State emerges victorious in a hard-hitting Round 3 against Clemson, securing their spot in the upcoming national championship game.

Kaitlyn Zipay and Jordynn Dudley both found the back of the net to clinch a 2-0 win over Clemson during the semifinals of the College Cup in Cary, N.C. This marks FSU’s third triumph against the Tigers this season.

Undefeated FSU (21-0-1) will face the winner of the BYU-Stanford match on Monday at 6 p.m. (ESPNU) as they vie for their fourth national championship title.

Zipay’s goal, assisted by Leah Pais and Heather Gilchrist, came in the 38th minute, with a well-placed strike hitting the back of the net. Shortly after, Dudley drove down the left side and hammered a shot with her right foot into the top corner, adding to FSU’s lead in the 52nd minute.

Cristina Roque demonstrated her goalkeeping prowess, making five crucial saves, including a remarkable diving stop to her left in the first half. Roque has recorded her fifth shutout in the NCAA Tournament.

In a closely contested match, both FSU and Clemson (18-4-4) managed 11 shots on goal each.

Under Bryan Pensky’s leadership, FSU has consistently made it to the College Cup, reaching the championship game four times in the past five years. With their 15th College Cup appearance, the Seminoles are eager to secure a fourth championship, adding to their titles in 2014, 2018, and 2021.
