The Sacramento Kings will be missing two important players when they face the Houston Rockets again at the Toyota Center. Both guard De’Aaron Fox, who is dealing with an ankle injury, and forward Trey Lyles, who has a calf strain, have been officially ruled out for this game, marking the end of the Kings’ three-game road trip.
This will be the third consecutive game that Fox will be absent, following his sprained ankle in the Kings’ victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on October 29th. Without Fox, the Kings have suffered two losses this season: a close 102-101 defeat against the Golden State Warriors last Wednesday and a more decisive 107-89 loss to the Rockets on Saturday.
In Fox’s absence, Davion Mitchell has taken on the role of starting point guard and has shown promise, averaging 10.0 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 28 minutes per game. It is likely that Mitchell will continue in this position for the upcoming game against the Rockets.
Meanwhile, Trey Lyles has yet to make his season debut as he has been recovering from a left calf strain sustained during warm-ups for the Kings’ preseason game against the Warriors on October 18th. Sasha Vezenkov has been filling the void left by Lyles and has been contributing an average of 6.2 points per game while shooting 31.6 percent from beyond the arc this season.
The game between the Kings and the Rockets will tip off at 5 p.m. PT on Monday. Make sure to tune in to NBC Sports California at 4:30 p.m. for “Kings Pregame Live.”
