Former World No.33 Jenson Brooksby suspended for 18 months for three whereabouts failures, set to end in early 2025

Jenson Brooksby has received his final suspension from the ITIA after committing three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period, according to the official confirmation.

Once considered one of America’s promising tennis talents, the former World No.33 will now face an 18-month suspension, effectively keeping him out of the sport for an additional year.

To ensure compliance with drug testing, players are required to provide the ITIA with a daily one-hour window during which they will be available at a specific location. Brooksby’s violation was automatic and unavoidable. The independent tribunal, with Brooksby’s testimony and the doping control officer’s input, convened on October 10 in London.

Despite disputing only one test, which should have been sufficient to dismiss the suspension, Brooksby was unsuccessful in convincing the tribunal. He maintained that he was present at his designated hotel at the specified time.

Unfortunately, the independent tribunal was not convinced by Brooksby’s account of events. The suspension was retroactively dated to July 5, 2023, and a provisional suspension was voluntarily accepted.

Additionally, due to wrist surgery in May, Brooksby had already taken a suspension. However, this new suspension extends his ban and prohibits him from attending any ITIA sanctioned tournament until early 2025.
