Former UNC Basketball players Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson reunite at the next level.
Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson were both recruited to play for the UNC basketball program in 2014. They spent three years together in Chapel Hill, with Jackson leaving for the NBA after his junior season while Pinson stayed for his senior year. Both players played vital roles in the 2016 Final Four run and the subsequent championship victory in Phoenix the following year.
After more than five years since their time as Tar Heel teammates, Pinson and Jackson are now set to team up again this season.

The Mavericks officially announced the signing of Pinson and Jackson for the upcoming season on Friday afternoon. Just last week, the two players were back in Chapel Hill attending Live Action with Carolina Basketball, an annual event that marks the start of the college basketball season.
Pinson has played for three different teams in the league, including the Mavericks for the past two seasons. Despite moving between the G-League and NBA, he managed to play in 40 regular season games last year, averaging 8.1 minutes per game.
This will be Jackson’s second stint with the Mavericks, after previously playing for them in the 2019-2020 season. Following a promising start to his career with the Sacramento Kings, where he averaged over 20 minutes per game, he has since played for multiple teams in search of a stable role.
One thing is certain – UNC basketball fans can look forward to witnessing Pinson and Jackson reunite on the court this season, whether it be in the G-League or the NBA.
