Flyers become victim of Sharks’ first win after San Jose’s 0-10-1 start to season originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Flyers found themselves wrapping up the game against the San Jose Sharks at 1:10 a.m. on the East Coast.

Following a 2-1 loss to the previously winless Sharks, the Flyers (5-7-1) will have to endure being criticized after being outscored 7-1 in their last two games, dropping seven of their last nine.

San Jose, with a 1-10-1 record, had its first two-goal lead of the season and its first win after 11 consecutive losses to start a season, tying an NHL record.

The game saw the Flyers struggle offensively against a team that had been in poor form, surrendering 4.91 goals per game.

But the Flyers only managed one goal on 39 shots after being shut out in their last game. However, the Flyers remain optimistic about their chance to face the Sharks once more and even out their record.

A newcomer to the Flyers, Sam Ersson, held his ground, though the team’s power play struggled again, with the Flyers going 0 for 4 and now 4 for 45 on the season.

Cam York was removed from the power play, signaling a possible attempt by the Flyers to manage his minutes and lessen his load. The 22-year-old defenseman has been very active.

Morgan Frost was a healthy scratch and has sat for more than half of the Flyers’ games.

The Flyers will continue their California trip against the Ducks on Friday and then the Kings on Saturday.
