Cary, NC – Only two college women’s soccer teams remain unbeaten this season, and one will finish the year undefeated as No. 1 Florida State (21-0-1) takes on No. 2 Stanford (20-0-4) in the College Cup championship at WakeMed Soccer Park.
This matchup highlights two of the best defenses in the country, with both teams demonstrating their defensive prowess in the semifinals, securing 2-0 wins.
Stanford’s backline, recognized for its compactness and quick goals, will face off against FSU’s defense with a “chip on its shoulder.” Although Florida State’s defense has not received much accolade, its goalkeeper Cristina Roque has proven to be one of the top keepers in the NCAA Tournament with the third-best shutout percentage in the country.
Offensively, FSU has shown more explosiveness, scoring 70 goals compared to Stanford’s 53 this season. With freshman Jordynn Dudley, the Seminoles have been able to showcase their attacking power.
