The Florida Gators made an offer to Hollis Davidson, a promising tight end from the class of 2025, on Wednesday, as reported by Corey Bender of Gators Online.
Davidson, who currently plays at McIntosh High in Peachtree City, Georgia, is yet to be ranked by major recruiting services. However, his recent surge in attention could change that.
Following Florida’s offer, Auburn also expressed interest in Davidson, joining the list of teams pursuing him, which includes Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Indiana, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. While Indiana was the first team to show interest, Davidson now has SEC schools knocking at his door.
Over the next few months, Davidson will be visiting Auburn, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, and South Carolina. To remain competitive, the Florida coaching staff will need to bring him back to campus soon. Davidson’s stock has continued to rise as more eyes are on him.
Fortunately, Florida is considered a top contender for Davidson following their offer.
“I love the campus; it’s beautiful,” said Davidson. “I like the way they run an NFL system compared to the usual college offense. They use athletic tight ends like myself very well.”
Davidson’s observations are supported by the breakout performance of redshirt freshman Arlis Boardingham, who has emerged as a strong pass-catching threat at tight end for Florida this season. Additionally, Florida also has a four-star commit, Amir Jackson, at the position from the previous recruiting class. However, the team frequently uses two-tight end formations and needs to replenish the position after skipping it in the class of 2023.
