Two leading DP World Tour winners have officially announced their participation in the upcoming LIV Golf Promotions event scheduled for next month. Spaniards Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Alvaro Quiros, each boasting seven DP World Tour event wins in their careers, are set to tee it up at the qualifying event known as LIV’s Q-School from Dec. 8-10 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Fernandez-Castano shared his upcoming plans during his podcast, Golf sin Etiquetas, while Quiros detailed his decision in a blog featured on Ten Golf.

The 43-year-old Fernandez-Castano’s last DPWT victory came in 2013, with Quiros, aged 40, not securing a European circuit win since 2017. Both players lack full status on the DP World Tour or Challenge Tour for the upcoming year. Fernandez-Castano played four events this year, with results including two missed cuts and a T-20 finish at Qatar Masters, and Quiros participated in three DP World Tour starts but predominantly competed on the Challenge Tour, missing 15 of his last 17 cuts.

The LIV Golf Promotions tournament consists of a three-day, 72-hole competition, with score resets after the first and second rounds. The top 20 players and ties advancing to Round 2 will be joined by exempt players for the final 36 holes. Winners from this event will secure spots on LIV in 2024, and other finishers will gain tickets into next year’s International Series on the Asian Tour. The first-place winner will be awarded a $200,000 prize.

The full participant list has not been released yet, with expectations of it being revealed soon. Given the momentum of the qualifying event, several notable players are expected to compete. Sports Illustrated mentioned that approximately 10 PGA Tour status players are scheduled to join the competition, showcasing the increasing significance of LIV Golf Promotions.
