When will Patrick Kane, Detroit Red Wings face Connor Bedard, Chicago Blackhawks? originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The much-anticipated Patrick Kane saga has reached its conclusion, as the three-time Stanley Cup champion and former Hart Trophy winner has inked a one-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
Kane, 35, recently underwent hip resurfacing surgery and is on track to return within four to six months. Amid much speculation, he has made his decision just in time for the upcoming season.
Since his trade to the Eastern Conference last season, Kane has not had the opportunity to face his former team, the New York Rangers. However, this season presents an opportunity for an emotional reunion.
Kane is set to take on the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Thursday, although it remains uncertain whether he will immediately join the lineup.
The highly-anticipated return of Kane to the United Center as an opponent is slated for Sunday, February 25. Notably, this is also the night of Chris Chelios’ jersey retirement ceremony.
Kane’s reunion with former linemate and close friend Alex DeBrincat in Detroit may not be unexpected, but it is still a surreal sight to see them both in Red Wings jerseys.
