Ex-USWNT soccer players Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris file for divorce

Former United States women’s national soccer team players Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger announce divorce after almost four years of marriage, reports say.

Harris filed for divorce in Florida on September 19, as reported by Page Six. The court documents indicate a peaceful separation, with plans to collaboratively create a parenting arrangement for their children.

Krieger and Harris are parents to two adopted children. Their daughter Sloane joined the family in 2021, followed by their son Ocean in August 2022.

Two-time World Cup champions

Krieger and Harris, both two-time World Cup champions, first met at a USWNT camp in 2010.

Initially keeping their relationship private, they tied the knot in December 2019, with their USWNT teammate Sydney Leroux officiating the ceremony.

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris played for Gotham FC in the NWSL after being traded from Orlando Pride in 2021.

Harris made history as the first NWSL player to achieve 500 saves and subsequently retired at the conclusion of the 2022 season after 12 years. Krieger announced her intentions to retire following Gotham FC’s 2023 NWSL season.

Krieger and Harris have used their platform to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and promote mental health awareness.

“I want to leave the game in a better condition than when I entered it,” stated Krieger in her retirement announcement. “I want my legacy to reflect being a supportive teammate who tirelessly worked to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and seen, and who advocated for improvements that benefit future generations.”
