Erling Haaland Sets New Premier League Scoring Record in Manchester City vs Liverpool Match

Since his arrival at Manchester City in June 2022, Erling Haaland has consistently been breaking records. During the game against Liverpool, Haaland scored his 50th league goal for the Premier League champion. He has accomplished the feat in just 48 games, quicker than any other player in the league’s history. The previous record holder, Andrew Cole, took 65 games to reach the mark.

Haaland made a mark by scoring in the 27th minute, giving Manchester City a lead. This lead was later equalized by Liverpool in the 80th minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold scored.

“We played really well, excellent performance,” City manager Pep Guardiola told BBC Sport. “I don’t have anything to complain or regret about how proud I am of the team.”

Haaland managed to find space between Liverpool’s center backs and scored a sensational goal.

The game did not live up to its high-caliber expectations, as neither team displayed their best performance.

City thought it had doubled its advantage when Rúben Dias found the net only for the goal to be ruled out for a goalline foul on Alisson by Manuel Akanji.

Alexander-Arnold’s late equalizer allowed Liverpool to secure a hard-earned point.

“This is a really tough place to come and it is a not a coincidence they have won I don’t know how many in a row at home. They are a super team,” Klopp told BBC Sport.

“Can we play better? Definitely and we will … It is a good point for us and I am absolutely fine.”

With this result, City’s home game winning run in 2023 comes to an end, allowing Arsenal to move ahead in the table after they beat Brentford later in the day, making for an eventful weekend of Premier League action.
