Elementary school students joined the excitement of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend by participating in the Nemours Children’s Run on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Among them was seven-year-old Julia Ehrlich from Fairmount, who proudly shared her gold medal achievement. In a heartwarming moment, Julia discussed how the airhorn at the start of the race didn’t faze her, despite having autism. Her parents praised her courage in taking on the challenge and finishing the race with pride. The Children’s Run provided a mix of exhilarating moments, with some kids enjoying an inflatable slide after the race, while others recounted the thrill and difficulty of running alongside their peers. Eight-year-old Paolo Martinez Baca, who traveled all the way from Mexico City with his family, described it as his first race – a fun but challenging experience. For the Ehrlich family, Julia’s medal not only symbolizes her achievement but also the wonderful memories created together on this special day.
