Exciting news for the Colorado men’s basketball team as they welcome back the big guy.
In his preseason practice debut, new center Eddie Lampkin Jr. participated in his first team workout since recovering from back surgery over the summer.
Lampkin has been cleared for full activity but was limited in certain team drills as part of a gradual reintegration process to regain his full strength. Nonetheless, this was a significant step for the 6-foot-11 Lampkin, who remains on track for the upcoming regular season opener against Towson on November 6.
“It felt good. I’ve been ready and trying to get back,” Lampkin said. “I wish I could’ve been back when I got hurt. The team gave me the ball out of the gate and I wanted to be out there already. They were passing it to me already, and it was like I’ve already been out there. For me, it’s just trying to get back to 100. I’m almost there, so that’s the main thing.”
A transfer from TCU, Lampkin is the only true center on the Buffs’ roster. Head coach Tad Boyle has praised Lampkin’s ability to operate effectively from the high post in the team’s new offensive approach. During his time at TCU, Lampkin started 51 out of 57 games and averaged
