New reports suggest that the market for Dylan Cease has reached a boiling point within the last 48 hours.

According to inside sources, with various teams looking to strengthen their pitching staff, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi has revealed that the White Sox’ righty could be traded as early as next week.

Previous reports

have indicated that both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves have been involved in trade talks for the starting pitcher.

After finishing as the American League Cy Young Award runner-up in the 2022 season, Cease’s performance dipped in 2023, posting a 7-9 record and a 4.58 ERA in a career-high 33 starts for the White Sox. Although his Strikeouts-per-nine-innings decreased slightly, his WHIP increased from 1.11 to 1.42 as he gave up 46 more hits in seven fewer innings of work for the Sox.

Despite this, at 27 years old with several years of team control remaining, Cease remains an attractive commodity on the market. Other teams are expected to be willing to part with significant prospect capital to acquire his services.

In a recent episode of the White Sox Talk podcast, Nightengale stated that industry sources have revealed a “90% chance”

Cease will be traded this offseason

as the Sox aim to replenish their farm system.

Earlier reports indicated that Cease was available for trade offers, with outfielder Luis Robert Jr. being the only player the White Sox weren’t considering

apart from.
