Draymond ejected from Warriors-Cavs after odd Mitchell altercation originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Warriors’ Draymond Green was ejected from Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center after a bizarre sequence of events.
Midway through the third quarter, Green knocked Donovan Mitchell into the first row under the basket as Caris LeVert made a layup over Klay Thompson, leading to a 10-point Cavaliers lead. Despite the contact, no call was made.
Subsequently, as Green brought the ball up the court, Mitchell ran straight at him, fouling Green while gesturing at the other end of the court in response to the earlier incident.
After a protracted replay review, the referees deemed Green’s earlier contact worthy of a technical foul, and subsequently ejected him from the game, his second technical foul of the night.
Green’s ejection marked the climax of his attempts to energize the Warriors and the Chase Center crowd in the third quarter.
Earlier in the period, Green drew an offensive foul on Jarrett Allen and vocally expressed his emotions towards the big man.
Shortly after, Green stole the ball from Mitchell and drew a foul on the All-Star guard in the ensuing scuffle for possession.
Ultimately, Mitchell came out on top, even taunting Green by holding up two fingers, referring to the two technical fouls he had received.
Green’s final stats for the game included eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.
