Dillon Danis would ‘rather retire’ than do Dana White’s Contender Series

Dillon Danis is adamantly set on reaching the UFC, firmly declaring that he has no interest in following the same path as Sean O’Malley, who rose through Dana White’s Contender Series. Danis expressed this sentiment during a recent episode of The MMA Hour in New York City.

“I’d rather retire, bro,” Danis stated, emphasizing his belief that he is a larger figure in the MMA world, backed by his extensive online following.

Despite not competing in an MMA fight for over four years since his victory over Max Humphrey at Bellator 222, Danis recently appeared in a boxing match against Logan Paul, an experience that ended in disqualification for Danis.

Danis has been vocal about his aspirations to join the UFC, expressing openness to being introduced on The Ultimate Fighter as a coach rather than a fighter.

When asked about his “dream scenario” for a UFC debut, Danis discussed the possibility of headlining the future UFC 300 main card against Paddy Pimblett, ideally with Conor McGregor as the headliner against Michael Chandler.

Danis stressed that he is willing to face any opponent for his UFC debut, including Pimblett and Tony Ferguson, exuding confidence in his abilities.

Danis made it clear that he is unyielding in his UFC ambitions, asserting his willingness to fight anyone and exuding confidence in his skills by stating his readiness to face Islam Makhachev or Kevin Holland.

While Danis may have both supporters and detractors, his popularity is undeniable, as evidenced by his ability to draw attention and interest in his fights, even without extensive MMA experience.

Despite being released by Bellator in October, Danis sees this new chapter as an opportunity to pursue his ultimate goal of fighting in the UFC, unapologetically voicing his disdain for Bellator and asserting his desire to compete against the best in the world.
