Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner take in UConn vs. NC State after Team USA game at Duke

Women’s basketball enthusiasts were treated to an electrifying doubleheader Sunday in the Triangle area as Duke hosted the US National Team at noon followed by NC State hosting No. 2 UConn at 3 p.m.

One of the renowned players from the Team USA roster, Diana Taurasi, graced her presence in Raleigh to support her former teammates.

Diana Taurasi, a well-known Huskie, and her Phoenix Mercury teammate Brittney Griner were spotted in courtside seats during the first half of Sunday’s game in Raleigh, following their national squad’s victory against Duke with a score of 87-58 in Durham.

Taurasi had previously achieved three consecutive national championships with the Huskies from 2002-04.

During halftime, as the Huskies were leaving the court, UConn coach Geno Auriemma and assistant Chris Dailey greeted Taurasi and Griner with warm hugs.

UConn holds an impressive women’s basketball record with 11 national championships and is currently coming off a strong Final Four run, showcasing potential All-Americans in Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, and Aaliyah Edwards.

Furthermore, LaToya Sanders, a UNC alum and member of the Final Four team, was also present at the event, serving as a scout for the Washington Mystics.
