Detroit Lions Inactives list: Donovan Peoples-Jones OUT vs. Chargers

The Detroit Lions have released their list of inactives for their Week 10 showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers, marking the healthiest roster they’ve had all season.

Heading into the week with a 53-man roster, the Lions only made one move by promoting long snapper Jake McQuaide from the practice squad to the game-day roster, bringing the total to 54 players.

With eight active offensive linemen, the Lions can expand their game-day roster eligibility to 48 players from the usual 47. As a result, six players have been ruled out for today’s game.

Lions inactive:

Recently acquired Peoples-Jones is still recovering from a rib injury, and Coach Dan Campbell noted that the team wants to ease him into the offense to avoid aggravating the injury.

Campbell explained, “He had a little something that came up (in Cleveland). But obviously we did the physical and everything and we felt like there was nothing that was severe. And we want to get him up to speed anyway with what we’re doing offensively. He’s been practicing, and he’s looked pretty good, and then we’ll make a decision on whether we bring him (to California) or not, over the next day or so.”

It’s likely that Peoples-Jones will make his debut next week when the Lions face the Bears at home.

Vaitai was ruled out on Friday, paving the way for Colby Sorsdal to step in as the reserve right guard behind starter Graham Glasgow.

Onwuzurike’s hip injury sidelined him for this game, and the Lions typically only utilize three defensive tackles in most games, making Martin a healthy scratch.

Nowaske’s inactivity may be a regular occurrence due to the crowded linebacker position on the roster, as he was recently signed to the active roster to prevent other teams from poaching him from the practice squad.

Gilmore also misses out due to a crowded Lions’ secondary that is fully healthy.

Chargers inactives:

  • S AJ Finley
  • RB Isaiah Spiller
  • RB Elijah Dotson
  • G Zack Bailey
  • DL Scott Matlock
