Despite ‘worst circumstances possible,’ Tom Aspinall certain he’ll leave UFC 295 as interim champ

NEW YORK – Tom Aspinall is confident about his chances to win the interim heavyweight title against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295, despite having only two weeks’ notice to prepare for the fight.

Due to an injury to champion Jon Jones, the UFC quickly arranged a match between Aspinall (13-3 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Pavlovich (17-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) for the interim belt at Madison Square Garden, with the main card airing on pay-per-view.

Despite the less than ideal circumstances, Aspinall remains optimistic and determined to win, expressing his belief that he can find a way to emerge victorious regardless of the challenges.

Aspinall also acknowledged the daunting task of facing Pavlovich, known for winning his past six fights by first-round knockout, and emphasized the need to stay positive and enjoy the experience.

Though some have questioned the interim status of the fight, Aspinall is focused on his upcoming match and respects Jon Jones, looking forward to the possibility of sharing the cage with him in the future.
